Luciana Paluzzi

Actress Luciana Paluzzi was one of the many gorgeous Italian brunettes groomed for global fame following the success of the Gina Lollobrigida. Working both sides of the Atlantic in the '50s in such films as Three Coins in the Fountain (1954) and Sea Fury (1958), she was. Paluzzi was given a chance to experience American TV stardom in the leading role as Simone Genet on the 1959 espionage weekly Five Fingers. In 1965, she met with the Bond producers and was a candidate as the lead actress Domino Derval's role in Thunderball. The role was eventually given to the former Miss France, Claudine Auger, director Terence Young offered her the villainess role of Fiona Volpe - one of only a handful of women on this globe who could resist the charms of Mr. Bond and, perhaps as an apex for her, Fiona is killed on the dance floor by her own companions, whereupon James deposits her body at a nearby table and says "Do you think it's okay if my colleague sits on this one? That's not the fault of Fiona. Luciana Paluzzi was able to maintain her European career during the 1970s by directing this movie. The films like Captain Nemo & The Underwater City (in 1969), The Six Million Dollar Man (in 1973) along with The Klansman(in 1974) as well as The Greek Tycoon were all made during the decade.
